0001: Adding a board, instruments, switches, PIDs, and PID tuning

This tutorial demonstrates how to create a basic hardware configured project. This project starts from scratch and first adds a data acquisition (DAQ) board object, then instruments, an actuator, and switches which are then wired to channels within the DAQ board object.  Next a proportional integral derivative (PID) object is made in order to create a closed loop control. This PID object is then tuned while controlling a physical DAQ board.

This tutorial starts from scratch, thus there is no initial project provided.

Setup Instructions:

 

This application used a National Instruments USB-6008 data acquisition board.  Note that any compatible board could be used as long as the DAQ board which is used is selected within the application’s tree view.

The application’s channel wiring was as follows:

  • AI0 directly wired to AO0
